New Mills Natural History Society was founded by a group of enthusiasts in 1970 and since then has gone from strength to strength with a membership now of over 70 and a varied and interesting programme of indoor events during the Winter months and outdoor events throughout the year.

A Bulletin is published about twice a year. (Some past issues can be found on microfiche at New Mills library). The full programme of events is usually available at local Libraries and Information centres and the Heritage Centre.

Members and visitors can expect to find a warm welcome and the help and advice of other members with a wide range of expertise in all aspects of Natural History. Lifts in members' cars are usually available for outdoor meetings.

The natural history of the New Mills area

There can be no better way to experience the delights which New Mills has to offer than to walk amongst them.

spectacular geology, the birds and the plants which are to be seen at various times of the year.
