Local walksThe Heritage Centre is conveniently located by the side of the path leading down into the Torrs gorge. This path links with other paths leading into and out of the gorge, so enabling walkers to approach this interesting locality from various directions, viz: (l) The Torrs Industrial Trail describes the industrial history of the Torrs and what there is to see. (2) The Bridges Trail describes the various bridges to be seen in the Torrs and other localities. (3) The Sett Valley Trail is an easy 3-mile walk from New Mills to Hayfield along the track of the old railway. There is a bus station at each end with a regular service between. (4) The Waterside Circular Walk is an easy l mile along the banks of the river Goyt between New Mills and Hague Bar. (5) The Goyt Way is a long distance walk from Whaley Bridge to Compstall, passing through the Torrs. (6) The Mid-Shires Way from Buckinghamshire to Stockport passes through the Torrs, linking up with the Goyt Way and the Trans Pennine Trail.
