Local walks

The Heritage Centre is conveniently located by the side of the path leading down into the Torrs gorge. This path links with other paths leading into and out of the gorge, so enabling walkers to approach this interesting locality from various directions, viz:

(l) The Torrs Industrial Trail describes the industrial history of the Torrs and what there is to see.

(2) The Sett Valley Trail is an easy 3-mile walk from New Mills to Hayfield along the track of the old railway. There is a bus station at each end with a regular service between.

(3) The Goyt Way is a long distance walk from Whaley Bridge to Compstall, passing through the Torrs.
